Selection and NCRP/PSI Scholarship Award Process:

Applicants must complete an online application which includes uploading a current resume or curriculum vitae that documents an active clinical NYS license or ability to have one by the end of the training program (applies to applicants with MD, DO, PhD, PsyD, NP, PA, CNM, LICSW, LMFT, etc.).

Awardees must provide perinatal mental health services in New York State for at least three years post-award.

National Curriculum for Reproductive Psychiatry (NCRP) Intensive Practicum

A 3-day Women's Mental Health Intensive Practicum

Annually, Project TEACH will fund up to 5 NCRP scholarships ($5,000 each). These scholarships are available to New York State (NYS) prescribers (MD, DO, NP, PA, CNM) who are interested in participating in an intensive reproductive psychiatry training program so to better serve the psychiatric needs of individuals across the reproductive lifespan (e.g. menses through menopause). Each scholarship must be applied to defray the costs of the NCRP Intensive Practicum, year-long peer supervision, Expert Clinician Certification Exam and travel expenses to participate in the Practicum.

Project TEACH will provide an initial $4000 to defray the costs associated with the practicum, supervision and travel expenses and a final $1000 after the Expert Clinician Certification Exam is successfully passed. Proof of training completion and certification must be provided within three months of the training ending and certification, respectively, for reimbursement.

While a national board-certified reproductive psychiatry fellowship training program does not yet exist, the Project TEACH awardeeswill receive:

  • One in-person NCRP Intensive Practicum that provides AMA PRA Category 1 Credit, ANCC, and AAPA Category 1 CME (up to 23 credits)
  • One NCRP written knowledge exam to be taken at the completion of the NCRP Intensive Practicum
  • Participants who attend NCRP Intensive and successfully complete the examination will be eligible to enroll in a bi-weekly, year-long, expert-led peer supervision group for ongoing discussion of reproductive psychiatry cases
  • One NCRP Expert Clinician Certification Exam (administered virtually and at a time separate from the Intensive Practicum) Longitudinal no-cost monthly phone consultation with Project TEACH perinatal psychiatry and psychology faculty for as long as the awardee benefits from phone consultation and practices in NYS
  • Funds to defray travel expenses (e.g. hotel, transportation) to attend the in-person NCRP Intensive Practicum

NCRP applications are due December 31, 2025 at the NCRP website here https://ncrptraining.org/ncrp-intensive/. The 2026 3-day Intensive Practicum will take place on February 22-25, 2026 at the Rizzo Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The program will start on Sunday at 8:00 am and end on Wednesday at 12:00 pm. The Intensive Practicum is offered once annually.

Applicants should first register with NCRP according to their deadlines/registration process. Project TEACH NCRP scholarship applications are open now through December 31, 2025.

Postpartum Support International (PSI): Perinatal Mental Health Certification Program (PMH-C)

Project TEACH will support 30-40 scholarships (up to $2,000 each) annually for NYS based professionals who would like to obtain a clinical certification in perinatal mental health. These scholarships must be applied to defray the cost of PSI PMH-C training and the PMH-C certification test. Proof of registration and successful passing of the PMH-C certification test are required for reimbursement. These scholarships are limited to NYS-based Mental Health /Psychotherapy, Psychopharmacology and Affiliated Professionals with 2 years' work experience with the perinatal population.

The PMH-C is available for three groups:

  • mental health/psychotherapy
  • psychopharmacology
  • affiliated professions

The PSI PMH-C scholarship through Project TEACH includes:

  • 14-hour certificate course (can be virtual or in-person)
  • Advanced certificate training specific to one of the tracks listed above
  • PMH-C exam, up to two attempts
  • longitudinal no-cost monthly phone consultation with Project TEACH perinatal psychiatry and psychology faculty for as long as the awardee benefits from phone consultation and practices in NYS

Applicants must meet PSI PMH-C applicant requirements. Payments will be made upon proof of completed training (up to $1000) and proof of successful PMH-C certification (up to $1000). Proof of training completion and certification must be provided within three months of the training end date and certification, respectively. Applicants are strongly encouraged to read the multi-step process towards PMH-C certification as required by PSI and how to maintain active certification here. The in-person PMH-C certification exam is currently offered through Pearson Vue, a company with testing centers across the U.S. Note some PSI courses are in-person and may require travel, others may be offered virtually. Additional costs for PMH-C certification (e.g. costs for CME or certification maintenance), beyond the required 14-hour certificate course, the advanced certificate training and the PMH-C exam are not covered by the Project TEACH PSI scholarship and are the responsibility of the awardee.
