For New York State Medical and Mental Health Professionals
The Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) is a professional credential offered by Postpartum Support International (PSI). Clinicians with PMH-C designation have acquired specialized perinatal mental health education and passed a national certification exam. It signifies they possess the competency to best support individuals, their partners and families experiencing perinatal mental health disorders. This Project TEACH scholarship aims to encourage NYS clinicians to pursue certification and reduce financial barriers to certification in perinatal mental health.
This credential is obtained by completing coursework which is approved for CEs, CNEs, and CMEs, and passing a standardized examination. To earn the PMH-C, candidates must:

In order to apply for this scholarship, you must complete all PSI-required coursework in your learning track to be eligible to sit for the PMH-C exam. You will need to submit to Project TEACH proof of registration for or proof of completion of the PMH-C exam within the past 6 months. Complete and submit your Project TEACH PSI Scholarship application at /psi-scholarship-form/
The PSI coursework and exams are available throughout the year. The Project TEACH PSI Scholarship applications are accepted and reviewed during three open enrollment periods. Applicants who are not selected in the current application period may be considered in the remaining 2026 applications cycles.
Scholarship Open Application Periods:

Project TEACH will award 30-40 scholarships per year. Applicants who are not selected in one round may be considered in the next.

Once documentation is received, then reimbursement checks will be sent within 60 days.

A 3-day Women's Mental Health Intensive Practicum
The NCRP provides comprehensive education to prescribers on the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric disorders related to reproductive events, including pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. This program addresses the significant gap in training regarding women's reproductive mental health needs. Annually, Project TEACH will fund up to 5 NCRP scholarships ($5,000 each).

The NCRP Intensive Practicum is a 3-day, in-person training program that is offered one time each year. While a national board-certified reproductive psychiatry fellowship training program does not yet exist, participating in the NCRP Intensive Practicum in collaboration with a Project TEACH scholarship, includes:

The Project TEACH NCRP scholarships are available to New York State (NYS) prescribers (MD, DO, NP, PA, CNM) who are interested in participating in an intensive reproductive psychiatry training program so to better serve the psychiatric needs of individuals across the reproductive lifespan (e.g. menses through menopause).
The scholarship provides financial support for prescribers to attend the National Curriculum for Reproductive Psychiatry (NCRP) Intensive Practicum, a 3-day women's mental health training program, and become an expert clinician in perinatal mental health by passing the NYRP Expert Clinician Certification Exam.
Up to 5 scholarships of $5,000 each are awarded annually.

Applicants will be notified of the scholarship determination by January 1, 2026. Applicants with unsuccessful applications may re-apply in subsequent years. Scholarship awardees are not eligible for further Project TEACH scholarships. Awards cannot be made to support previous trainings or certifications.
